About Me

I am a science writer and editor who specialises in translating complex technical subjects into clear and comprehensible language. From annual reports and newsletters to web copy and blogs, I create narratives to help people understand the impact of science and technology on their daily lives. I often write about biological and environmental sciences, although I have written on topics as wide-ranging as bariatric surgery, the chemistry of cancer treatments, mental health stigma, soil liquefaction during earthquakes, and bioinformatics.

I help others write and edit their own research, as well as writing my pieces in publications such as Natural History Magazine. In 2013, I wrote Quake Dogs, a #1 New Zealand bestseller published by Penguin Random House about dogs during the Christchurch, New Zealand earthquakes.
